I remember being at the old President’s Hotel/ Hanassi Hotel, Jerusalem, in 1965, when it was a working hotel, considered one of Jerusalem’s finest, and the home of the Israel Medals and Medallions company. Now it is the New Social Space, with numerous social activist and social justice and art organizations, Jewish studies, a kids’ animation studio, nd more, using the building until it is entirely renovated for a boutique hotel – I think that is the plan.

The huge space on the ground floor features walls hosting art exhibitions, a dance/movement studio, second-hand clothing shop, and cafe. I was privileged to participate in one of the first art exhibitions in the space, “Imprinted on the Body,” with a drawing of The Reflexologist. It is a drawing made from a photo and from a painting from observation.

The opening date was postponed since it fell on October 7, 2023…
